We're still here!

Yeah, it's been a bit since we've posted some news. Fear not - we've been racing! The local SoCal scene is in full swing right now, and the last month has seen the Sho-Air/Sonance riders putting the rubber to the road in Ojai, Valencia, Torrance, Bakersfield, and Long Beach. Although the wins haven't come, a number of top 10 finishes were earned in these races against some quality fields.

Up in Bakersfield, the boys contested the state championship road race over a 31 mile hilly loop. The 35+ field on Saturday was lined up for two laps in the heat of the central valley. As expected, attacks went from the gun. Cresting the day's climb on lap one, Travis Wilkerson attacked and got a good gap and was joined by one other rider. Wanting to put some pressure on the rest of the field, Travis and his companion put their heads down and started to gain time on the rest of the field, which was being controlled by the rest of the Sho-Air/Sonance team.

For a while it looked as if the break would stick and there would be a two-up sprint for the state jersey. But just as soon as the California Bear dreams started floating in the heads of the leaders, a nasty head wind hit them. Still believeing they could hold off the field, the two continued to work together in the wind.

With just over a kilometer to go, the hard charging field caught Travis and his break partner. A field sprint ensued, and Travis rolled across 10th followed by Tommy Robles in 11th.

This weekend the team heads to the beach for the second annual Dana Point Criterium.
