A new and valued member to the Sho-Air/Sonance squad for 2008, George Barthel is a proven all around rider ready to put himself and his teammates on the podium this season.
As a convert from triathlon, George turned his focus to road racing only three years ago. In just under two years, he upgraded to a Category 2 racer, winning many races along the way. His first season on the road was cut short after a nasty fall that ended up with George in the hospital nursing a broken nose among other injuries. Unfazed from this rough introduction to racing, George came back with a vengence winning the Category 3 State Criterium Championship the following year.
Once George upgraded to a Category 2, he quickly made a name for himself by placing in the top 10 in three of his first four races. His strength did not go unnoticed, and Sho-Air/Sonance is happy to having him riding among their ranks in 2008.
